In October, 1989, I transferred to the Cincinnati office in the Planning and Special Programs area. Again, I was the Joint Committee Specialist for the Cincinnati District and later became the Returns Classification Specialist. In 1991, I was promoted to a grade 13 in the General program area. This eventually became part of the Large and Mid-size Business division in the reorganization.
In 1991, I became a steward with Chapter 9 and have remained a steward till the current date. I am presently a member of the Board of Directors with Chapter 9, commencing by third term.
I am married to Mary Jo Leirey, who is with MITS in the Cincinnati office. I have one daughter, a sophomore at Indiana University and a member of the IU marching band. I also have 2 step sons who are married and out on their own.
Other activities within IRS consists of the IRS Golf League of which I have been a member since 1990. I'm on my second stint with the IRS bowling league. I originally joined this through my dad, George Leirey who was a IRS revenue agent with EP/EO for 17 years, from 1972 through 1979. I rejoined the league in 1989 and have been there ever since.
