Great News About Capwiz Usage
Following is a message I want to share with fellow Chapter 9 members from our President.
Once again NTEU Chapter 9 members have stepped up to make a difference, for themselves, their fellow members and our country. The news is about our Chapter's active use of Capwiz to communicate with our Senators and Congressman on important Federal Employee issues. Sending your e-mails does make a difference!!!
I also want to share with you a recent meeting we had with a local Congressman. Although his voting record could be improved, he told us that through our communications he has come to appreciate our position and has moved towards sharing our position on many issues. I believe his statement was based on your actions in helping us get our message out. You do make a difference. THANKS!!
Please access Capwiz through www.nteu.org.
Capwiz may be accessed on a government computer not on government time provided the issue(s) you address through Capwiz are legislative/educational in nature. You cannot use Capwiz to conduct political activity on a government computer per the Hatch Act.
From work and home access Capwiz from the above link www.nteu.org. If you access Capwiz from a government computer it should be before your tour of duty begins or after your tour of duty ends. Do not access Capwiz from a government computer during your tour of duty, including your breaks and lunch.
To access Capwiz, click on www.nteu.org. Scroll down the webpage and stop at the red section of the webpage entitled “LEGISLATIVE ACTION ALERTS”. Within this section of the webpage there will be current issues listed to be addressed through Capwiz. Click on each issue’s link provided within the Legislative Action Alerts listing. You may email your two Senators and your Congressman from the Capwiz webpage accessed from the NTEU home page; you may print a letter to mail to your two Senators and Congressman.
“Your Senators and Congressman want to hear from their constituents.”
New issues to address include increasing the government's mileage reimbursement rate for employees who use their person vehicles in performing their jobs and objecting to the Working for America Act that wants to expand the untested DHS pay for performance rules government wide. There are also the appropriation bills messages available, which are vitally important.
Finally, I want to echo Laura's appreciation and gratitude to all of Chapter 9's members, especially those who make up the legislative committee. You keep us going!!!
-- Tim Feldman

President’s note:
Tim,
Please forward my congratulations and sincere thanks to the members of the legislative group, and to your off-site email addresses.
There are times, as a president, when I am sitting here in my cocoon - grinding out work and emails - when I really wonder if anyone is listening, or even cares. When I saw these results of the letters that Chapter 9 is sending to Congress, I was absolutely amazed.
We are certainly not the largest chapter in the United States, and being in Ohio, we are often weighted down by certain political inevitables. The fact that Chapter 9 members have made us FIFTH out of 303 in the nation for letters to Congress is nothing short of humbling.....gives me the strength to keep on doing....and I hope that it does the same for all of you!
You should all be very proud of your hard work....I am proud of you, and thank you for your dedication!
