Lunatics and Innocents
(A dialogue on truth...)
A wise woman once said that lunatics and children tell the truth simply because they don’t know any better: Children, because of their fewer years on earth, haven’t traveled that far from the source of life; and lunatics, because they never have really landed on this planet we call earth anyway and live for the most part in their spiritual selves without learning the process of how not to tell the “truth”.
Even though sometimes I ponder what the word “reality” means, I have always known what the word “truth” means. It means something different for everyone, but when I speak the “truth” it is not for the sake of convincing those who do not know it, but for the sake of defending those that do. I don’t have enough time in my day to do the former and I don’t need extra time to do the latter.
The following is my “truth” to all of you who read this segment of our website which was created for all of our members who have something to say, but have nowhere to voice it.
I just want to say that it is more imperative at this time in our chapter’s history than at any other time that all of our members become engaged in speaking the “truth” to anyone who will listen. Speak it at any and every opportunity that presents itself to you during your day. Let your inner thoughts and truths be known to those that don’t already know them such as the reason why you are a proud member of our NTEU Chapter 9, whether it be the hard work done to assure that federal pay raises be fair and equitable, the alternative work schedules we enjoy, pre-tax health insurance payments, or just the fact that you demand respect and fair treatment in your everyday work-life. I personally strive to the best of my ability to make our federal jobs the kind that you don’t mind getting up everyday and going to.
The word “union” means exactly what it says; “a joining together of all of us, not just some of us, to make our chapter strong and fruitful.” Union work benefits all Federal employees, bargaining and management alike.
Please be pro-active and attend our union meetings, know our NTEU National Contract, and if you are not a member sign the Form 1187 and join with us to make a better workplace for us all. If you do this, you will be voicing your “truth” on a daily basis.
